Legal Aid NSW operates a branch on Level 5 of the Westlawn Building in Lismore, serving the Northern Rivers region. Free advice is available across family law, criminal defence and civil disputes, with grants of aid for ongoing representation subject to financial eligibility and merit tests. Family law staff handle separation, parenting orders, child support, property settlements and family violence matters. Duty lawyers attend Lismore Local Court, with outreach clinics travelling to smaller towns across the Northern Rivers. The office works alongside community legal centres and Aboriginal legal services across the catchment from Tweed Heads down to Grafton.
